A Way to Pittsburgh

 It's been awhile

Wow how time flies. It's almost a month since I wrote my last blog. A lot has happened since then. My kids are home and I'm ready for them to go back to Hawaii (just kidding). They had a fantastic time, but were glad to be home. Second, the Steelers won the Super Bowl (LOVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) and third, I've been working so much. My partner that works with me found out three weeks ago that she has stage IV cancer. She was having problems breathing and found she has lung cancer, a spot on her brain, ribs, and liver. She has it all over. She's only 50 and her son just got his three month tests back that he is in remission for Leukemia.... it's so sad, she is such a good person. I have been working as much as I can to help cover for her. She is on my mind constantly and I just can't believe that it is happening to her.
David had surgery two weeks ago, so I have been patient with him. It makes me think how dependent he is on his wife... I guess he will never leave.. I better just face the facts, but facing reality is just hard to do sometimes. Maybe one day I can just move on, but right now I need him in my life....
Well I only had a few minutes to write, glad i got to get this off my chest even if it was just for a few minutes.
Happy V-day to all

 They're coming home today!

Yep!!! today's the day. I miss the kids and I know they are ready to come home. They did their march in the Martin Luther King Parade yesterday (5 miles). Amanda said it was easy, but was starving when I talked to her. Jayson went and found "nudie" cards for his friends and his dad. I asked him if they said Hawaii on them and he didn't know, but if they didn't he'd write Hawaii on them... Typical for a 16-year-old huh? I asked him what he was looking at if he didn't notice if they said Hawaii... he said "what do you think I was looking at?" Dumb question, but I wanted him to get embarrassed, but of course, he wasn't... lol.
Okay...about the game on Sunday! OMG I was having stomach pains the last two minutes of the game. I thought for sure they were going to go into Overtime and then blow the chance.. but of course my hero saved the tackle (Ben) and then the colts missed the field goal.. I'm sorry for them, but YAYYYYYY Steelers... okay everyone Sunday at Denver... let's hope they can do it... I've got my "Ben" shirt washed and hanging out to dry.... I've got my terrible towel ready and here we go! I'm so nervous!!!! Go Steelers!!!!!!!

 Aloha 5 & 6

They got to rest today. Amanda calls me..."Mom, guess what I'm doing?" "What?" "I'm sitting by the pool with a strawberry daquari"... She's such a brat... then She tells me I have to go, i'm going to the beach! She really is rubbing this in. She's really having a good time now. She loved the luau, but my sister-in-law said it was too comercialized. She said they crammed 100's of people in this little place and the pig was wrapped in aluminum foil. Amanda, however, had a front row seat and was picked to go on stage so of course she had a wonderful time. I talked to Jayson and today he was talking to me while he was standing next a beautiful waterfall, he said it was breathtaking and for a 16-year-old to say that, it must have been beautiful. He told me he's a little homesick, and I'm missing them both soooo much. Amanda is no longer homesick and doesn't want to come home and Jayson is ready (go figure). Jayson keeps buying nuts. He went and toured the macadamia nut factory and fell in love with them. My sister-in-law said every time she turns around he is buying nuts... he must have spent $100 on them already... I bet he thinks I'm going to make him macadamia nut cookies when he gets home ha ha!!
Tomorrow, my mind will be preoccupied with the Steeler game (GOOOOO STEELERS)... Love Big Ben. When I met up with David the other day we went through a gift shop and he almost bought me a license plate for the front of car that said Big7Ben... LOVE him....
So everyone out there, get on your black and gold and throw around that terrible towel (like I will) tomorrow at 1:00 Eastern Standard time!!!!! David is already biting his nails because of the game (LOVE him too!! )
Three more days till the kids get home yayyyyyyy!!!!!

Go STEELERS

 Aloha Day 3 & 4

Well I did it!!!!! I got to see David. It rained the entire time but we still had a beautiful day. We went to the park and hung out under the pavilion. Then he took me for breakfast and then to a little gift shop. He looks as good as ever and every time he looks at me he tells me how beautiful I am. I just can't believe I met him...Now if I could only get him to change his geography. Oh Hockeymum, I wore the jeans! I'm glad I did. He loved them as always.

I was right, Amanda got in trouble for using the cell phone and she is having a miserable trip (so she wanted me to think). She called me Tuesday night crying and last night crying. She is so tired and she thinks everyone is mad at her.... She just needs to rest, but at the pace their going, it's going to be the end of the week before they can sleep in. I called her back later and she was fine. Amanda and her cousin were going to Hard Rock Cafe when I talked to her last night and I told her she gets me soooo worried that I cry, she said "that's because you love me" I know I love her, but I want her to have a good time! (she's so bad! )I talked to my sister-in-law and she said it is hard for even her to keep up. Yesterday they went to Pearl Harbor and what a sight, my sister-in-law said. The kids were silent and very emotional stepping off the memorial. I know my son was very excited to go there. I finally got to talk to Jayson and he is having soooo much fun. He went kyacking for the first time and loved it. He told me he bought me a coconut bra.... I told him they don't make them that big and he should have saved his money...here he was kidding. He torments me sometimes. Today the band is performing at noon in an open air mall and then tonight is the Luau. The kids are looking forward to that. Four more days of the adventures in Hawaii! Boy do I miss them!

 Aloha day 2

I haven't talked to Amanda since last evening. They visited the macadamia nut factory and apparently got in trouble for talking on the phone while the tour guide was talking (not just Amanda, the entire class must have their cell phones lol). Now she can only call home on her free time which until Friday looks very little. They are doing the Grand Alii Tour today and that looks like it might be all day. She will probably be finished at 7:00 which will be midnight here, so I know she won't be able to call. The kids also got in trouble for taking too long to get ready, but I know that's not Amanda because she's like me and can be ready in 15 minutes if need be. Yesterday at the Big Island Tour Amanda saw Jayson on the beach for a little and said they got to see two sea turtles on the black sand beaches. Sounds lovely doesn't it? Guess you can tell I miss them already! My sister-in-law called my mother-in-law today and told her the news about the cell phones and told her to tell me not to worry about Amanda not calling and also said that she is so glad Jayson is along. He is so polite and such manners (I think she has someone's else kid). I asked my mother-in-law if she was being sarcastic... she said NO he's so good. It must be when I'm not along because typically he torments the daylights out of me! But I know kids never act the same with others as they do with their parents. No really, for an almost 17-year-old he is a good kid
I got some bad news yesterday.....I didn't make it into clinicals this semester. Very sad, this pushes my graduation to December 2008....I just want to graduate! I feel like I have been in school forever. I pretty much have all my bachelor credits finished, I'm taking nine credits this semester and then I can concentrate only on my nursing classes. I know it's sad, but there must be a reason for this and I am actually okay today. Maybe it's because I'm meeting with David tomorrow! Yes tomorrow!!! I'm so excited. He wants me to wear jeans, but I'm not sure.
Well, I better be going, I have some last minute finishes on the kitchen to do (when the kids are away what is there to do, but clean) lol that's rare Aloha!
